7 Style Tips for Mature Women to Look Younger

Mature women face many changes at this stage of life; but they may find it difficult to accept having to make some changes to the style and wardrobe. However, the most important advice that fashion and style experts can give them is that doing everything and more to look the same as they were when they were young will make them look older. Between the two extremes: that of neglecting one's appearance by reducing oneself to the typical image of the grandmother, and wearing flashy, provocative and outrageous clothes combined with aggressive makeup, many women of mature age manage to  find a middle ground.

After all, it's not that difficult, given the wisdom gained over the years and the experience of having come to terms with yourself, instead of trying to copy the others. Perhaps the idea of a sober and muted wardrobe is not very exciting, but it is precisely this type of wisdom in fashion that will help you look elegant and no less beautiful than before. When you are fifty years old, proper clothes and makeup are essential for a perfect and younger look. If you are at peace with yourself and radiate inner beauty, you have excellent bonus points.

1. Try classic silhouettes

Choose between skirt suits combined with blazers or trousers with a casual look and elegant trouser suits. The cut and length of the skirt are important, and if you are lucky enough to have beautiful legs, there is no need to hide them: a length just above the knee is entirely appropriate.

2. Choose clothes with a loose fit

Regardless of the style and cut that are best suited for your body shape, clothes shouldn't be snug. Ideally, they should make your body stand out and accentuate what you are most proud of, but be wide enough to make you feel comfortable and hide everything you are not very proud of. Sheath dresses, a-line dresses and skirts and soft pants are good examples of this type of clothing.

3. Attenuates the colors

Opt for lighter shades of your favorite colors, even if you've always stuck to a palette of bright colors. While choosing a classic look in black, white or gray may seem like a won bet, these colors may not be appropriate for your skin and appearance. Pastel shades like beige, off-white, peach and mint color, as well as light tones like chalk, pink or pale yellow, are the most youthful ones. Dark and saturated colors should be used sparingly in clothes, preferably as secondary colors. It is not advisable to mix many colors in one look: two or three are enough to have an elegant appearance.

4. Consider a basic capsule wardrobe

Staying simple is an easy recipe for elegance. The basic textbook fashion pieces are things that are good for every woman, regardless of age. White shirts, classic coats and trench coats in neutral colors, blazers, cardigans and sweaters, black pants, skirts and dresses ranging from midi to maxi in length. Boring? No, just efficient, smart and chic.

5. Denim is fantastic

Despite being the paradigm of comfort and functionality, as well as a must for every wardrobe, jeans can ruin or improve your appearance and the shape of your body, so the cut of jeans is everything. Straight or slightly flared jeans are usually a safe choice for mature women, but finding a pair that fits you perfectly is a bit more difficult.

6. Wear sturdy shoes

Comfort shoes can also look good, unfortunately, however, attractive-looking shoes are not always comfortable. Replace plafonds and stilettos with something more robust, such as wedge heel shoes, classic women's shoes or ballet flats.

7. Accessorize

Without accessories a look is incomplete. However, while some accessories can help coordinate it, too many can ruin it, so moderation is the key. Short and minute ladies look better if they wear smaller and even smaller accessories than tall, sturdy women, so choose those of appropriate size.

The beauty that comes with old age doesn't chase fashion - or whatever, for that matter. It is self-sufficient, as it is true security, style and charm, as well as a strong personality.
